LGMA is the professional development organisation for Managers in Local Government. We have worked with LGMA to assist the development of their Young professionals; the next generation of Managers in local government.

The BriefThe Brief

  • To give young Professionals an intense and practical leadership development experience
  • To assist in positioning local government as a career path for young professionals so their talent is retained in the sector.
  • To create an “out of the ordinary” memorable experience that enables the participants to step up more in their capability and confidence as managers and leaders

The ResponseThe Response

  • Designed a 3 day leadership offsite for 42 participants from across local government in NSW
  • The program focussed on the fundamentals for leaders around setting strategy, leading people and establishing a culture of performance and results
  • The program had a mix of guest speakers, master classes and practical learning events around:
    • Strategic and business planning
    • Managing personal styles
    • Performance management
    • Coaching
    • Change management
    • Presence and impact as leaders

The ResultThe Result

  • Highest participant evaluation for any program ever delivered by LGMA
  • Independent feedback from participants that the practical nature improved their capacity at work
  • In Corporate was invited to expand our offer into other courses offered by the LGMA
